This is a little coat that I made for my cousin! My aunt gave me a TON of fabric so I just had to make something for the little one. It's corduroy and it's just adorable.

What a busy month!
I haven't been able to post anything in a while with all the cleaning, cooking, baking, and parties we've had lately! I made another cookie cake, this one for Alex's graduation. It's the Geneva Viking's mascot!
It was devoured in less than 5 hours. A new record!

Cakes, Galore!
I decorated a cake for Alex's birthday, as well as my mom's birthday!
Alex and I have always loved the game Bubble Bobble, so I baked and decorated this chocolate chip cookie cake for him!
My mom loves the green M&M character, so this was her cake!

Easter Eggs Are Done!
I've just finished my annual Easter eggs. They're real eggs, which I've emptied, cleaned, painted, and glossed. This is the 4th year making them, I believe.
My annual Superman egg. It's different every year!
I've started making an animal/insect egg every year for myself. I've painted the pictures from photos I've taken.
I always do 2 Mario themed ones for special people, too.

Sew, Sew, Sew
Unfortunately I haven't had time to do any drawings or personal crafts. I've just finished sewing the last of 3 pioneer style dresses that I was hired to make for some 3rd grade daughters of some friends from school. Here they are!
Dress one!
Dress two!
And dress three!
Now that I am finished with those, I am going to be painting my annual Easter eggs. Stay tuned!

I'd just as soon kiss a Wookie.
Here's my Princess Leia from the Empire Strikes Back. I should probably get a shot of the back of her head, because her hair looks really neat. I will do that soon...

Eggcellent. Eeeggcellent.
It's almost that time of year! Easter is just on the horizon, so it's time for me to start thinking about what I'll paint this year. These are the ones I made last year...
This is the same Macaw from my chalk drawings. I really like the glossy look and the red against the black.
Super-egg!
A Mario inspired egg.

Snooooooopy
I've recently finished another chalk drawing that most people haven't seen yet.
This is Snoopy! He belongs to my aunt and uncle. He's a very sweet dog and he doesn't demand attention like most dogs. He just innocently waits for you to notice him and then delights in the affection that follows.

Well, Well, Geez, Lois.
I just finished making a little Superman this week by crocheting and sewing. I got the inspiration from Geek Central Station's craft. She also has a great pattern for the basic body, which I changed here and there to fit my needs (most of the time on purpose, sometimes not!). I personally love starting with the Magic Circle technique, because I love the round little flat spot. That sounds nerdy, but so is Clark Kent, so it all works out neatly.
I can just see him sheepishly pushing up his glasses and stuttering to Lois. "Well, well, geez, Lois."
Wow, SUPERMAN? I had no idea.
I just love his cape.

R2D2!
I recently finished one of my first crochet crafts. I was shown a link to a completely knitted hat and asked to make one like it. I knit, but I never really taught myself that whole "knitting in the round" thing like I meant to. My little brother taught me how to crochet (yes, my brother), so I decided that crocheting would be the way to go. I'm not a fan of changing colors and paying that much attention to the count when crocheting a hat, so I decided to use felt. I love felt. I can cut it into any shape I want with my super sharp scissors, and it does whatever I want without fraying and unraveling.
This is the result! I'm quite pleased with it.
Here it is upon my head.
Lastly, a back view.
Please don't bother trying to order one at this time, it is a one of a kind. I think I was fighting the plague during the week I made it, so it felt daunting and like it took forever.

More Chalk Pastels!
I thought I'd share my previous chalk drawings before sharing any new ones that develop.
A Macaw from the Brookfield Zoo.
A donkey owned by the same man that owns the horse I drew. I love these donkeys; They're basically giant lapdogs that just want to be petted. If you enter their grassy area, they quietly walk up to you and lean against you until you pet them. They also make good lawn mowers, apparently.
My friend Ashley's cat Snickers. I still need to draw Triscuit!
The late Mandy, owned by the man with the horse and the donkeys. My brother loved this dog; She was very sweet.
Another favorite of mine. This bunny was living in a giant flower planter at the school where my mom teaches. I've always loved rabbits and I love the way this one came out.
A type of golden finch that was flying around in my grandparents' backyard in Alabama. I love birds and finches are especially fun to watch. They're very chubby this time of year as to what I'm normally used to.

My Love of Messy Mediums
While I've been drawing for years and years, I was never really happy with my ability to do color drawings. I was always lacking some key point. I've finally figured it out this year after my mom gave me several different medium books for Christmas. I flipped through the chalk pastels book and within two hours I'd finished my polar bear.
To keep my work original, all of my chalk drawings are drawn from my own personal photographs. That stuff can be seen on my Flickr account!
I also had my aunt's Pomeranian, Lucy, in mind when I was drawing. She was my next choice as she's a very photogenic animal.
I'd have to say that this horse is my favorite so far, but everyone I've spoken to finds a connection with a different one. This horse is owned by a man who stores my dad's boat on his farm during the winter. I walked to the field with my camera and this was the horse of the four that decided to come check me and my camera out.
I've many more drawings to share and shall do so when I find them time!

What's all this, then?
I'm about 8 years behind on the fad of blogging, but I figured I'd keep a running tab of all the crafty endeavors I make. Stay tuned for postings! I'm about to finish up (and of course, begin) many projects.
